I published on Tuesday the world’s Top 10 art fairs but before continuing the last other 5 fairs, I have fresh news from Paris. Well, this is not an art fair, but quite close to it.
If you are traveling to Paris in the next 5 months, don’t miss it. From October 15, 2022 to February 11, 2023, an incredible exhibition is planned in Paris! The CAPITALES Street Art exhibition organized by the City of Paris promises a spectacular visual journey through 60 years of the city’s streets! For more than 50 years, street art has adorned walls around the world, often with works about social issues that make us think. More than 70 artists will exhibit their works at the Hotel De Ville. This exhibition, which includes the works of the greatest artists of this movement such as Miss Tac, Bansky, Invader, is free of charge.
After this important retrospective exhibition news, it is time for the second part of my article. In my previous article, I told you about the fairs that will be organized in Switzerland, the USA, the Netherlands, Spain, Uk and France in the coming months. Now it’s London, Los Angeles, New York, New Delhi, Miami and Mexico.
1- Frieze Art Fair / England & USA
Held annually in London, Los Angeles, New York and Seoul, FRIEZE art fair is focused on modern art. The fair, which ended in Seoul on Monday, will next be held in London’s The Regent’s Park on October 12-16, 2022.
The Mayfair Townhouse is among the recommended hotels of the fair. I have not stayed in this hotel, but I have heard about it from my English friends.
Frieze Los Angeles will be held February 16-19, 2023 at Santa Monica Airport. As for Frieze New York, dates and venue have not been announced. I think it will be announced around November.
2- Armory Show / USA
One of the most important art fairs in New York City, The ARMORY SHOW has an important history for art lovers. It is named after the 1913 modern art exhibition, the first of its kind in the United States, which brought together trendy European artists.
81 years later, The Armory Show began in honor of this legendary exhibition. It now highlights its top artists in New York and offers year-round programming outside of its annual fall fair to bring the city’s best talent to the global stage. This year, this incredible event, which will be held at the Javits Center on September 9 – 11, will feature a variety of creative works from all corners of the world.
Crosby Street Hotel New York. also signed by Kit Kemp like my favorite London hotel The Covent Garden, is in Soho and only a half-hour stroll away.
3- India Art Fair / India
I have never been to India, but I am no stranger to its philosophy. Every year Meera Gandhi invites me to India, but I never get the chance to go. However, I will share with you the practices I have done in the light of Far Eastern philosophy and what they have added to my life in another article. Now it’s about art ?
Organized annually in Delhi INDIA ART FAIR is South Asia’s leading arts and culture event. With 70% of the region’s galleries participating, the fair takes place during the winter months and focuses on modern and contemporary work that highlights the diversity of creatives in South Asia.
In parallel to this art fair, various interim programs, panels and meetings are organized throughout the year. The next art fair will be held on February 09-12, 2023 at the NSIC Fairgrounds in New Delhi. I have never been to India, so I can’t recommend a hotel there, but if you go, make sure it’s a 5-star establishment!
4- SCOPE / USA
The United States once again occupies the #9 spot on my list of the world’s 10 most significant art fairs. Each year, SCOPE presents shows of international contemporary art in New York City, Basel, and Miami Beach, Florida. After 20 years, this art fair is becoming more innovative and technology-oriented. This year the show will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the New Contemporary Program, which highlights experimental storytelling and artist activations.
The great thing about SCOPE events is that Scope New York coincides with Armory Week in Manhattan. Thus, if you are in New York, it is possible to visit 2 fairs at once. The most recent Scope art fair is in Miami. Taking place November 29 – December 04, 2022, this art fair features works by known and emerging artists represented by reputable galleries from all over the world.
Miami, which I can’t remember how many times I visited when I was living in the US, is a hotel paradise. But my hotel recommendation for this fair Feana Hotel Miami Beach . Furnished with an Art Deco concept, the hotel received 5 stars from Forbes magazine the first year it opened.
5- ZonaMaco / Mexico
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022, ZONAMACO organizes four events in Mexico City throughout the year. As the largest art fair platform in Latin America, ZonaMaco attracts contemporary art fans from all over the world. Initially held twice a year, this event has expanded to different areas over time. ZonaMaco Design for furniture, jewelry, textiles and other decorative objects; ZonaMaco Salon for antiques; and ZonaMaco Photo for vintage, modern and contemporary photography.
Visiting ZonaMaco is also one of the best ways to discover Mexico’s rich and vibrant art scene. Beyond the galleries, the fair offers a wide range of unique cultural conversations and events, from cocktail classes to guided tours to other leading art destinations in the city, to further contextualize Mexico’s creative world. ZonaMaco, last on my list of the 10 most important art fairs in the world, will be held on February 08-12, 2023.
Designed by India Mahdavi Condesa DF Hotel, is one of the design hotels in Mexico City. It’s also one of the recommended hotels for the fair organization. I’ve never been to Mexico City so I checked their recommendations and the one I liked the most was Condesa.
Now, with great excitement, I am waiting for the 17th Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair, which I attended with Regis Krampf Gallery with my wooden sculpture designs in the past years. The preview will be on September 17-18 and the general visit on September 19-22.
Wishing you a fall full of art and energy….
